ADT to establish plant in China

Acer Display Tech (2409 ‘Da Ji’) has constructed a TFT-LCD assembling plant in Suzhou (China), to lower manufacturing costs and cooperate with other Taiwan NB PC makers with prod. bases in China. ADT is the first Taiwan TFT-LCD maker to invest in China. The company expects trial prod. 2Q01. ADT successfully completed trial production of MVA (Multi-domain Vertical Alignment) TFT-LCD, after purchase of technology from Fujitsu (Japan). It is second Taiwan maker to own MVA technology, after Chi Mei (unlisted) in 2H00. With a further 25%-30% decline in TFT-LCD prices expected this year due to over-capacity and shrinking profits, we maintain our rec. of REDUCE on ADT.
