Dialling in to GPRS

Chung Hwa Telecom (2412 ‘Chung Hwa’), Taiwan Cellular (4901 ‘Taiwan DaGeDa’) and KG Telecom (Unlisted) plan to launch new GPRS transmission systems to boost broadband wireless services in the coming year. GPRS is a faster and cheaper way to transmit information compared to the existing system. Usage charges for the new system will depend on the quantity of information that is passed on each call, whereas the present system charges are based on connection time.
