Wintek brightens with color STN-LCD investment

Wintek (2384 ‘Shen Hua’) plans to invest in an additional two color STN-LCD lines during 2H01, with a focus on the PDA and handset market. Production location has yet to be finalized, but the company favors Suzhou (China). A major caveat is the present Taiwan government restriction of investment in the STN-LCD Array production process in China. Wintek currently has two LCD module assembling plants in China. Wintek is also first in Taiwan to own a color STN-LCD line; the production line was purchased from Japan, and is yet to begin mass production.
