VIA to set up IC packaging and testing plant in China

VIA (2388 ‘Wei Sheng’) will set up an IC packaging and testing plant together with other Taiwan companies in Mainland China. The plant will use China's cheaper labour and hence aims to be more cost effective, and the investment will be led by VIA. We anticipate that this development will have a negative effect on the company’s two main packaging and testing service providers, ASE (2311 ‘Ri Yue Guang’) and SPIL (2325 ‘Xi Pin’).
