Ritek diversification to lower CD-R ratio
Ritek (2349 Lai De) is actively diversifying after profit margins for its
main CD-R products shrank last year. It expects that 2001 CD-R sales will fall to 55%,
reflecting continuing CD-R price declines and increasing revenue from new products. New
types of storage will account for 20% of total revenue in 2Q00, and include Dataplay discs
for mass production, compact-flash cards and IC smart cards. Remaining sales will be from
ITO glass and optical fiber products. The firm estimates 2001 sales growth at around 20%
to NT$27b, depending to a large extent on new product potential growth.
