TSMC cutting foundry prices

TSMC (2330 ‘Tai Ji Dian’) is to cut memory processing fees by 10-20%. Discounts will be offered in the form of rebates, with the extent to be determined by the products and customers involved. Meanwhile, Chartered Semiconductors (Singapore) has reportedly started to offer discounts to top customers. The first round of the price cut appears to be a done deal, a short two months following the first clear evidence of the semiconductor market slowdown.
