Taiwan Cellular's 2000 results
Taiwan Cellular (4901 'Tai Ge Da') reported 2000 revenue of NT$45.2b,
EBT of NT$14.5b, EAT of NT$14.2b, and EPS of NT$5.13. Operating expenses for 2000 were
NT$19.1b, with NT$10b marketing and commission expenses.
The AGM will be held on 30 Mar., 2001. The company expects to issue a
stock dividend of NT$3.2 for each share, with an employee bonus of NT$0.49b (NT$0.27b of
this being bonus shares). Paid-in capital will increase to NT$36.7b, from the present
NT$27.6b.
We anticipate slower growth for telecom service providers in 2001 based
on the existing 70% market penetration of mobile services. The key to success will lie in
the ability to increase airtime usage, and in the expansion of data transmission business.
