DGBAS lowers 2001 GDP growth forecast to 5.25%

  • The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) has lowered 2001 GDP growth forecast to 5.25% from 6.03% due to global economic slowdown. DGBAS announced that 4Q00 GDP grew only 4.08%, for 5.98% GDP growth in 2000, lower than the originally forecast 6.47%. We maintain our 4.5% 2001 GDP growth forecast.
