Inventory glut sees rough times for equipment makers

• US telecommunications companies are experiencing serious ADSL and cable modem inventory problems, despite unabated demand for broadband services. The market expects inventory burn to take at least 4-6 months on ADSL and 6 months on cable modem.

• Taiwan ODM/OEM communications equipment makers, including GVC Corp. (2322 'Zhi Fu'), Zyxel (2391 'He Qin'), Askey (2366 'Ya Xu') and Kinpo (2312 'Jin Bao'), which are also suffering inventory problems, will be affected by the glut in the US and expect to see difficult times in 1H01.
