VIA CPU orders put on hold

• One of the four major Chinese PC makers which placed CPU orders with VIA (2388 'Wei Sheng') in mid-February may postpone shipment.

• It is rumored a desire to maintain good relations with CPU and chipset giant Intel (US) is behind the delay.

• We remain neutral on the above news as the CPU business accounted for only around 3% of VIA's total revenue in 2000. 2001 performance will not be significantly affected.
