Quanta staying on top

• Development: Quanta (2382 ‘Guang Da’) is expecting NB PC shipment in 2Q01 to be 1.2m units, up from 1Q01 result of 0.85m units.

• Analysis: The firm is optimistic on shipments for 2H01 on back of increased outsourcing orders from brand name PC vendors. In the pipeline, it is rumored Quanta may gain a 3m unit order from Dell in 2002. Unit shipment for 2001 is expected to total 1.5m.

• Primasia View: We expect performance from Quanta to shine in respect to revenue growth and profitability among the first tier Taiwan NB PC makers.
