VIA breaks into China market

• Development: VIA Technologies is expected to team up with Chinese memory maker Kingmax and PC maker Legend to boost DDR demand in China.

• Analysis: VIA Technologies has been aggressive in promoting both CPU and chipsets to the China and Indian markets. We are positive on this strategy and believe growing demand in these markets will reward the company over the long haul.

• Primasia View: In absence of demand for new products (CPU and DDR chipsets) and the weak PC demand, we remain cautious on VIA’s near term performance.
