Nan Ya Tech to start shipment to Compaq & Dell
Development: Nan Ya Technologys SDRAM module is reported to have
made the Quality Approval List (QAL) of Compaq and Dell with orders beginning in August.
However, shipment volume will only become meaningful in 4Q01.
Analysis: This news will likely boost Nan Yas reputation for
product quality, as the company has been regarded as a laggard. Financial contributions
from the new orders are expected to be minimal in the near term.
Primasia View: AICE reported a slight upward price movement on both the
64Mb and 128Mb SDRAM yesterday, pointing the start of a transient rally in DRAM plays in
general. We regard Nan Ya Technology as a good speculative buy.
