VIA's new chipset to hit market

• Development: Market expects VIA's P4x266 chipsets to be mass produced and delivered to 2nd tier motherboard companies in early August, with major price differential to Intel's 845 chipsets noted (25% lower).

• Analysis: We expect contributions from the chipsets limited as an unresolved licensing issue hinders the product’s use by 1st tier motherboard companies.

• Primasia View: We believe this a positive development for VIA, as these chipsets have been tested and are ready for shipment. The company will be able to expand production upon licensing.
