LCD monitor panel shipment on the rise

• Development: AU Optronics (merger of Acer Display Tech and Unipac) indicated that 15-inch and 17-inch LCD monitor panel shipment in July will likely increase MoM. The firm anticipates July sales to expand compared to last month.

• Analysis: Aiming to meet LCD monitor demand, AU adjusted its product mix by dedicating one full production line to desktop monitor panels instead of notebook PC.

• Primasia View: We expect operating performance of AU to improve in 2H01 on the back of panel price stabilization, lower component cost and scale of economies from the merger.
