TFT LCD market picking up steam

• Development: AU Optronics (2409 post-merger) expects to raise worldwide TFT-LCD panel market share for notebook PCs to 13% in 2001, 15% in 2002 and for LCD monitors to 7% in 2001 and 15% in 2002.

• Analysis: As LCD demand has soared, AU rearranged its six production lines to focus on 15-inch and 17-inch TFT-LCD panel production for monitors instead of notebook PCs.

• Primasia View: We believe monthly revenue will expand largely beginning in Aug. 01 with adjustment in product mix and strong monitor demand as core drivers. .
