Ambit revenues exceed expectations

• Development: Ambit reported July revenue of NT$1.8bn, a record monthly high for the company. Firm claims the postponed launch of Yahoo Japan’s ADSL service has no impact on its shipment schedule.

• Analysis: The record July revenue is primarily due to strong ADSL modem shipments of 400k units, of which 200k units were delivered to Yahoo Japan (our model assumed only 100k units in July).

• Primasia View: Ambit’s August revenue will likely remain strong as ADSL shipments pick up. Coupled with seasonal factors, we anticipate 3Q01 revenue to reach NT$5.3bn.
