Asustek awaiting August uptick

• Development: Asustek reported shipments of 1.05m motherboard pieces and 25k units of notebooks in July. Motherboard shipment increased 10% MoM, however notebook shipment declined to an average of 38k units per month in 1H01.

• Analysis: July revenue remained almost flat at NT$5.3bn (vs NT$5.4bn in June). Motherboard shipment for July was in line with our forecasted growth of 10-15% MoM but a fall off in notebook shipment hindered revenue performance.

• Primasia View: We remain optimistic and expect Asustek to post motherboard growth of 15- 20% MoM for August due to new chipset introductions from Intel and Via. We believe new model notebook PC sales will bounce back in August.
