Sunplus shows decent earnings in 1H01

• Development: Sunplus announced 1H01 net profit of NT$967m (up 18% YoY) and EPS of NT$1.85 (up 15% YoY), in line with expectations.

• Analysis: Company likely to see seasonal uptick in Aug with revenue growing an estimated 10% MoM. A planned merger with GrandTech (unlisted), a control IC design company, will facilitate move into IC market for digital still cameras.

• Primasia View: We maintain our recommendation on Sunplus as we believe that it can sustain good growth momentum looking out 12 months and beyond.
