Quanta revenues coming in strong

• Development: Quanta reported August sales of NT$9.5bn, up 8.2% MoM and 52.7% YoY. Acc. sales to August increased 41% to NT$74.1bn, 64.3% of our ‘01 forecast.

• Analysis: August sales came in higher than market expectation due to shipment growth in NB PC. Quanta shipped 380k units in the month, versus 350k in July. Firm expects NB shipments for Sept. to continue to climb due to seasonal factors.

• Primasia View: We believe Quanta’s economies of scale and well-diversified client base will see it through the current economic slowdown in better shape than peers and ensure it maintains its leadership position as the PC industry consolidates.
