Powerchip Sept. revenue sees 31% MoM drop

Powerchip (5346) NT$7.25

Neutral

  • Powerchip's Sept. revenue dropped to NT$412m, compared to NT$600m in Aug., due to a lower spot price and continuing weak global demand. Sept. revenue was also dragged down by US terrorist strikes and typhoon Nari, with US events having a much longer-term impact and dim hopes for a demand pick up in 4Q01. We expect disappointing revenue results across the DRAM industry until recovery comes in 2Q02. We believe DRAM stock prices will continue to be depressed in the near term.
