Revenues surge 34% MoM

• Compal reported Oct. revenues of NT$8.15bn (34% growth MoM), a record high for this year, but lower than the historical monthly sales record of NT$8.5bn in Oct. ‘00 (resulting in 4% YoY decline). The result is ahead our expectations of NT$8bn, due to higher NB PC shipments. Oct. NB PC shipments reached 290k units, slightly higher than our forecast. Monthly sales growth was driven by NB PC shipment growth (32% MoM) and increased monitor shipments (15% higher for LCD; 69% higher for CRT). Firm indicated Nov. NB PC shipments could hit 300k units, but actual revenues will depend on demand variables. We forecast 4Q01 sales to grow 24% QoQ.
